Monday, Monday

Monday is the first day of the week for some and the second day of the week for others.

Monday is the day you go back to school,  after having a two-day weekend break from school.

Monday used to be called “Blue Monday” because it was the day when people would wash their clothes.  The “Blue” comes from something they put in the laundry called bluing to keep the clothes from becoming gray.

Holidays celebrated on Mondays are Labor Day, Memorial Day, President’s Day, Columbus Day, and Veteran’s Day.

Monday’s name comes from the word moon.  So it could be MoonDay!

Wouldn’t that be so much fun, if we said MoonDay instead of Monday?
